Boy George |
The New York Times carried out research amongst Americans as to what it is that they feared the most in life. The fear of death came a mere third, with the fear of walking into a room full of strangers jumping in at number 2. The No.1 fear, amongst the Americans polled, was the fear of speaking in public. This affects so many people in so many ways; some will just about survive it whilst coping with profuse sweating, going blotchy, rapid breathing and overwhelming feelings of anxiety for weeks in advance. Others will merely spend their entire life trying to avoid any possible scenario that will bring on that response. Is this really a life lived fully?
